Are you sabotaging your diet by bad snacking?
Those in between meals matter too! Snacks are usually small and eaten on the go or while multitasking - when we eat a snack we tend to be less mindful about what we're consuming at the time - sometimes eating anything within our reach or even forgetting we ate it in the first place.
But at the end of the day all these sneaky snacks contribute to your daily intake. We've all been there, that mid afternoon slump at work that makes you wanna snort some lemon sherbet and chug a Red Bull to finish the continual swarm of emails filling your inbox, or that boredom nag from your brain saying: 'hmm, essay to write...wait don't you have some chocolate biscuits in your cupboard... yeah, yeah you do...', even worse, those days where you have been so busy that you haven't had time to eat - your stomach starts bellowing with hunger and the only food around you is junk.
Life is sometimes out of our control but we can always prepare ourselves to make it easier.
Here's our top store snacks to combat your next snack attack.
QUEST NUTRTION
Protein bars are the perfect on the go snack and can help you to hit your daily macros. Quest were the first protein bar company to produce a high quality, low carb... basically zero crap bars! Which is why we love them! Did we mention they also make healthy peanut butter cups...
OH YEAH NUTRITON
Oh Yeah Nutrition One bars, similar to Quest's high profile macro controlled bars and ingredients are releasing non-stop amazing flavours, think Maple Glazed Doughnut, Chocolate birthday cake and Salted Caramel...*drools* HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU LURVVVV SWEET THINGS!
PRIMAL PANTRY
Primal Pantry bars are free from grains, refined sugar and vegetable oils instead they'e made from pure whole foods.
NAK'D BARS
Nak'd bars are made from raw fruits, counting to 1 of your 5 a day, and nuts blended together in fun flavours. Choose from their bars or little raw nibble packs. The best thing about these is their cheap too!
BOUNCE BALLS
Not so long Deliciously Ella inspired everyone to make energy balls but sometimes you just ain't got time! And, let's be honest, they probably don't taste as good as these... but these aren't the only balls on the market - go balls deep and try out Boost balls, The Protein Ball Co and Queen of balls herself, Deliciously Ella's own.
PANDY
PANDY = Protein candy FYI. High protein sweets which taste just like the real thing with zero carbs and zero sugar. The best part, they're shaped like kettlebells, protein shakers and plates... *smurk face*
PROTES PROTEIN CHIPS
Add extra protein with some serious snacking - Vegan, non GMO Dorrito style crisps with pea protein. In funky flavours like Toasted Coconut and Zesty Nacho. Pass the guac yeah!
PIP AND NUT SACHETS
Pip and Nut Squeeze packs for all you nut butter fiends out there, yeah I am talking to you! Get your nut butter fix anywhere without looking like a weirdo spooning from a jar.
A freshly baked muffin in your pocket. GENIUS. A muffin with probiotics, don't get to say that often right? Simply add water, microwave and TA'DAH. A muffin.
NATURE'S STORE RICE CAKES
Let face it rice cakes don't really taste like anything. But Nature's Store has turned a boring 'fitness' snack into a tasty treat with rice cakes covered in dark chocolate orange, white chocolate, salted caramel, dark mint... yum.
TRUESTART COFFEE BAR
Get your hunger fix and caffeine fix in one and 'UP YOUR GAME.' Made from gluten free oats, nuts, seeds, coconut oil - you know, all that good stuff!
BATTLE OATS
Most 'healthy' flapjacks on the market are full of unnecessary ingredients but Battle Oats are 100% natural using the highest quality ingredients of each: Protein Isolate, real butter and coconut oil.
SKYR
Skyr yoghurt is an Icelandic yoghurt which is fat free, high in protein and reduced sugar. No, it's pronounced 'skeer.' And no, it's not the brand! It's produced by Alra who also have a bunch of other awesome snacks like their Arla Protein fruity flavoured yoghurts and protein milk drinks.
SOUPOLOGIE
Super soups! These soups are nutritious, crammed with lots of vegetables with superfood add ins like their Curried Sweet Potato with Coconut and Raw Cacao or their Broccoli and Matcha Green Tea. Soups are great for keeping you full. Ever wondered why? Apparently if your drink water with your meal it passes straight through the bottom of your stomach and into the intestines. But if you have soup with that same amount of water plus food it will be retained in your stomach while the solid nutrients are digested from the soup are digested.
RUDE HEALTH
Choose from Rude Health's whole food crackers, raw snack bars, mini porridge pots or honest ingredient cereals.
COYO
The world's first coconut yoghurt. This dairy free snack is what I would imagine would be the end result of some greek yoghurt and double cream getting groovy on a Hawaiian beach. The salted caramel or raw chocolate taste just like a dessert.
TIDEFORD MISO BROTH
These broths are hearty and full of all those ingredients we like to see! Low fat and just over 30 calories per serving use as a snack to tide your over till youe next meal or spruce up some recipes which call for broth.
Everyone recommends popcorn as a low calorie snack while dieting but finding a popcorn that still doesn't have sugar in can be difficult. Instead Nom's popcorn is hand popped with coconut oil and sweetened with natural sugars like maple syrup. These wonderful bags combine taste, convince and health... Pssst! They also make some darn good bars too.

URBAN FRUIT
Ever checked the back of that dried fruit mix pack... 'sunflower oil...glucose syrup...' not such a great healthy choice after all, huh? Urban Fruit's dried fruit packs are free from any added oils, sugars, sulphates or concentrates. No funny business here, just straight up what it says on the pack!
ANDDDD even more fruity goodness... Emily's crisps are 'all the goodness of fruit with the crunch of crisps.' These whole foods are vacuumed to keep all the goodness still locked inside. Also they come in very pretty bags which is highly important.
Remember the kale craze?! Did you try kale crisps at home? And, how did they taste? HONESTLY!? Thankfully Inspiral have packaged us some kale crisps and flavoured them so we don't have too set the fire alarm off again burning kale. I mean it's not cooked, you turn away for a second and bam it's burnt, WHAT THE HECK!?
And there you have it, our favourite shop bought snacks. There were so many more I wanted to add to this list but with the ever-growing health food market, I just didn't see this post ever ending either! Instead, here's my recommend go-to shops to pick up all these on the list and more!
