CHEAT DATE: Cinnabon ice cream cones

WHAT?! THIS IS A HEALTHY FOOD BLOG!?

Yes. You're right, so why am I'm posting this RIDIC super-duper naughty food recipe on here?

In fitness there are 4 types of people:

1) Clean Eaters - these people eat clean all day long. On the weekend it's still all Instagram worthy 'good' food - none of that #weekendvibes #TGIF shizz! At a restaurant it's always the salad option or a steak, and at celebrations it's a vodka with soda water and grazing on any natural food from the buffet table i.e. the grapes and pineapple off the cheese sticks (FYI that was my situation at a buffet last week, pulling the cheese off the fruit. Not even kidding).

2) The Cheaters -  the Cheaters eat clean all week long until the weekend where they get to enjoy the long anticipated 'cheat meal'... That stuffed crust pizza with sizzling, gooey cheese or a freshly baked irresistible Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut. A meal (...including starters, main, sides and a dessert...and second dessert, and quite possibly a milkshake... or is this just me?! For those more controlled it is just one naughty meal. Applause for those people). This meal can be whatever you want, something that satisfies those cravings and allows you to loosen the reigns a little. For some this will be a social event and for others it might just mean that cheeky pot of Ben and Jerry's with a Netflix binge of Stranger Things.

3) Balanced Eaters - the third group are all about 'balance.' They enjoy a lil' bit of everything. They will eat great food throughout the day and if they fancy that bar of silky smooth Lint choc they will have it. They train hard  (usually sporting a 'Will lift for doughnuts' vest  or 'Run now wine later'  tee) and these mini indulgences have little effect on their goals. They are otherwise known as Flexible Dieters.

4) IFYM - You know, those Insta bowls of  Mandala placed Oreos, a Jenga game of Poptarts, sprinkles of Reese's cups with mountains of low fat ice cream, and protein of course, usually submerging bowls of oats, yoghurt  or pancakes. The 'IFYmacroers' have been known to push the boundaries of calorie counting by eating whatever they want, whenever they want as long as it fits their daily macro count.

I am a mixture of 1 to 3. Some weeks I will try to eat clean EVERY damn day #mybodyisatemple #fitspo #healthyliving....  other weeks I will go out for dinner and sample the entire menu!

Or during the week I might add a little spritz of naughtiness; a big bowl of cereal after a heavy legs session or a bit of sugar filled-calorie-dense chocolaty spread on the top of my oats... To try this yourself at home I really recommend Cadbury's spreads...*Pulls very innocent face.* So I am not saying any of this to tell you what I think you should do, I'm just justifying me sharing this epic recipe with you! So if you are a no.1, do look away now.

CINNABON BUN ICE CREAM CONES

Ingredients

  •  Ready made cinnamon swirl dough (I used Jus Rol which included icing sugar)
  • Icing sugar if not included with your dough
  • 1 tub of ice cream ***
  • Foil...lots of it

Method

So I do apologise in advance as I don't really have measurements for this. I think I just got too excited and made it!

Firstly pre-heat the oven to 175'C then begin by making the foil cones which will be your moulds. I can't tell you how I did this because even I am not sure. I just kept trying to mould foil into a cone shape and adding more and more....and MORE foil till dodgy cones were formed. The looked a little bit like The Harry Potter Sorting Hat.  Apparently this is a much more efficient way of doing this >> Doughnut ice cream recipe.

Layer your kitchen counter with a bit of flour and take a good chunk of dough. Roll the dough out into a long piece of rope enough to fit around one cone. Because of the cinnamon sauce this may seems a little difficult and very sticky but it will be OK. TRUST! Then wrap the dough around the foil. If you notice any gaps just mould the dough so it covers it up. Repeat on the other cones. Then put in the oven with the cones standing on their thicker sides and bake for 20 minutes.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Meanwhile take out your ice cream so it softens (and you know, maybe try a couple spoonfuls). Put the icing sugar in a small bowl and add drops of boiling hot water stirring after each addition till you get a paste. Once the cones are cool drizzle the icing around the inside of the cones. Finally add the desired scoops of ice cream to each. For me this was cramming in as much as possible - I didn't even do it in scoops! And enjoy that sugar high :)

***for this recipe I used Hagen Daz Pralines and cream - which was like a very elegant yet amazing party in my mouth, maybe a Great Gatsby style one  ;) I recommend flavours like vanilla, caramel, toffee, nutty flavours, white chocolate - basically anything subtle.
